1. SPIKE & MIKE'S SICK & TWISTED FESTIVAL OF ANIMATION [Seattle, WA]
Highlights of this year's festival include a first-ever animated Spike &
Mike introduction, three brand new "Happy Tree Friends" episodes, Kurt
Nellis' "Proper Urinal Etiquette," Christopher Conforti's "Frog," Josh
Prikryl's "Rip Wack," Bill Plympton's "Krazy Kock," Patrick Mallek's "My
First Boner" and Eric Favela's "The Two Minute Itch." Program contains a
whopping 23 all-new films, plus two "back by popular demand" encores:
Breehn Burns and Jason Johnson's "Here Comes Dr. Tran" and Craig
McCracken's "No Neck Joe." Due to the crass and tasteless nature of these
films, no one under 18 will be admitted!

2. MONSTER ROAD [Portland, OR]
February 4, 2005 - 7pm
Bruce Bickford will be in attendance at a screening of "Monster Road," the
feature-length documentary about Bickford's animated life and work. Karl
Cohen of ASIFA-San Francisco says Bickford's vision "includes a remarkable
obsession with the destruction of life and our world. It may not be your
cup of tea, but I think people should know that his work exists."

3. THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE [Seattle, WA]
Feb 11, 12, 2005 - midnight only
France/Canada/Belgium 2003. Directed by Sylvain Chomet, who brought us the
acclaimed animated short "The Old Lady and the Pigeons" a few years ago,
"The Triplets of Belleville" is a visually exquisite and curious film that
has a special appeal to animators, with gorgeous 2-D animation that is the
best blend of digital and traditional animation I have seen (unlike most
digital 2D today you CAN see the artist's delicious pencil line in the
finished product). This groundbreaking animated feature film is playing
for two nights only. Make it a Belleville Rendez-Vous!

7. MANGA & ANIME ART CLUB [Bainbridge Island, WA]
Friday nights through April 1, 2005 - 8-10pm
Love anime and manga? Like to draw (or want to learn how)? This is the
place to be on Friday nights! In this weekly drop-in art activity for
middle and high-school age teens, you will create and publish your own
manga comics and anime art. Tips and techniques taught by professional
artists, led by local animator Wendy Jackson Hall of Animated Adventures.
Teens only (grades 7-12). To sign up in advance: visit the Boys & Girls

Bring your drawings to life and make your own short animated film!
Learning the basic techniques and concepts behind animation filmmaking,
you will create a short animated video story using drawings, cutouts,
objects, flipbooks and a few surprises. No previous experience or special
artistic ability necessary. Families and friends are invited to a
screening of completed work after the class. Equipment and supplies
included. Everyone will receive a copy of the class projects on
videocassette.

The Children's Museum is delighted to once again offer the Amazing
Animation Camp! Children enrolled in the camp make animated movies using
clay, drawings and cut paper. Each student keeps their artwork and gets a
copy of the video featuring all of the films made in the class.

Prerequisite: Animation Fundamentals or equivalent Contemporary
Moving-Image artists are breaking the boundaries between painting,
sculpture, music, and dance. This studio course will explore the
relationship of sound and moving images in the frame-by-frame world of
animation. Narrative structures are critical to infusing meaning to
sequenced images. This course, through screenings and lecture, provides an
explanation of classical approaches to narrative, conventions of cinematic
space and time, as well as an illustrated exploration of alternatives to
classic linear sequencing. This course supports students in the creation
of experimental work that is personally expressive and informed by
historical and contemporary approaches to moving image art.
